Congratulations to WLP and SIGI/J!
A public event is presented in celebration of WLP’s and SIGI/J’s 10th anniversaries. HRH Princess, Basma Bint Talal, will give the keynote address, speaking about women's roles in peacebuilding efforts. Other speakers include: Asma Khader, Jacqueline Pitanguy, Zainah Anwar, and Mahnaz Afkhami. This event takes place as part of the WLP Transnational Partners Convening, Amman, Jordan.
For both organizations, the past ten years have had their struggles and their successes pressing for the advancement of women. Through their collaborative efforts and the work of the other WLP partners, tens of thousands of women in Muslim-majority countries have participated in culturally adapted training in leadership, information technology, and political participation. These women have gone on to start their own non-governmental organizations, run for political office, and press for legislative changes to support the rights of women.
'Women and Leadership' speakers and attendees gather in Amman, Jordan.
This struggle against gender violence is not aimed only at individual gestures of aggression, or sexual abuse, or discrimination. It is really aimed at the change of contexts.

Leading up to May 15th, International Day of Families 2019, WLP will hold a Partnership-wide digital awareness campaign including to raise awareness about the need for #GenderEqualityinFamily. Our partners, allies, and followers will be able to engage with our campaign by sharing info-graphic facts about inequality in the family and attending a webinar hosted by WLP staff and partners.
