Time | 11:00 am EST

Description:

Lifelines: The Poetry of Human Rights is an hour-long program where speakers will highlight some of the most pressing human rights issues around the world through their poetry or prose.  First launched in 2000, the Lifelines event series uses the transformative power of art to bring about social and political change. You will hear voices cast across the divides to convey understanding and appreciation for the pain of exile, torture, violence, and war, and the possibility of starting afresh, of healing, safety, and peace.

This event is presented in partnership with the Humanity Rising summit, a global summit that brings together international leaders and activists to discuss how we can work to build a sustainable and equitable future. During the first ten days of the summit, women leaders from around the world will emphasize the imperative of listening to women as we move into a post-pandemic world.
