Interviews on global issues facing women: empowerment, leadership, and information and communication technology (video)
A brief introductory series presents the situation of women globally:
[03:46] Empowerment and Leadership: The speakers explore definitions of leadership and empowerment and how women can develop leadership skills within their own communities and contexts. They present a non-hierarchical model of leadership based on ideas of inclusivity, consensus, and shared meaning.
[22:34] ICTs: The speakers define information and communication technology (ICT) as it relates to women's empowerment and opportunities for collaboratively achieving their goals. ICTs enables dialogue across borders, nationalities, religions, and other physical and cultural boundaries that divide women.
[39:30] Cultural Boundaries and Cyber Spaces: The speakers discuss how ICTs can be used to make collective learning available within communities that otherwise would not have access to traditional training and education resources.
This video is a compilation of interview clips and footage segments from the Cultural Boundaries and Cyber Spaces conference in June 2000. The clips are grouped by theme.
