Summary

A complete recording of the Dialogue on Religion Culture and Women's Human Rights convened by Sisterhood is Global Institute (SIGI) and hosted by the Center for the Global South at American University in Washington D.C. Contains in depth lectures on women's rights in Muslim majority societies and refutations to the claim that women's rights are inherently "Western" and/or a threat to traditional Islamic values. 

Speakers include SIGI and Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) founder Mahnaz Afkhami, and  Fatima Mernissi, author of Beyond the Veil and The Veil and the Male Elite, and others. The lecture series is followed by a lengthy Q&A session with audience.
