Asma Khader, Human Rights Lawyer,  WLP Senior Advisor and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WLP Jordan/Sisterhood is Global Institute/Jordan (SIGI/J),  discusses the most effective activist strategies that SIGI/J has used over the years, and the steps she believes will be necessary to realize gender equality in Jordan. Detailed background of law against domestic violence in Jordan, existing laws not considering needs of women, need for social, legal framework to deal with victim as well as perpetrator, appropriate action from social workers, medical specialists. Drafting law, lobbying, involving police, medical specialists, academics, media to reveal gaps in system. Collection of evidence, working with Ministry of Social Development to push to top of agenda. Describes positive social impact, introduction of women's shelters, training courses for perpetrators.
