Bethesda, MD —

Women’s Learning Partnership (WLP)—an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing global women’s rights—launched the redesign of its website, learningpartnership.org. Along with an updated look that illustrates WLP’s mission and history, the site hosts a vast collection of resources and tools in its Learning Center database.

The new functionality allows visitors to browse WLP’s workshop training manuals, documentary films, oral histories, interviews with women leaders, legal reform research, and more. "We want anyone, anywhere, on her computer or her mobile phone, to have free access to all of WLP’s resources,” said WLP President Mahnaz Afkhami. “We want to put into the hands of young people, seasoned advocates, and scholars the tools they need to make change in their communities, whether through reform of discriminatory laws or by reshaping aspects of culture that perpetuate inequality.”

Resources in the Learning Center are available in more than 20 languages and cover topics such as human rights, political participation, and women’s leadership. “Over the past two decades, activists, practitioners, and workshop facilitators all over the world have used WLP’s resources in innovative ways,” said WLP Executive Director Lina Abou-Habib. “WLP's new Learning Center gives users access to the results of their extensive training and advocacy experience.”

In addition to the resource collection in the Learning Center, key features of the new WLP website allows visitors to:

  • Explore stories from around the world on the Partnership Blog. Updates and analyses from WLP partners on four continents provide fresh grassroots perspectives on women’s rights issues.
  • Discover the history of the global women’s movement. Women from WLP organizations are some of the most influential human rights leaders in their countries and beyond. Website visitors can view their interviews, read their biographies and publications, and listen to their stories on WLP’s new site.
  • Learn about WLP’s unique model for advancing women’s rights. WLP’s self-empowerment approach, as captured in its foundational training manual Leading to Choices, has reached tens of thousands of women in more than 50 countries. The new website interweaves evidence and stories demonstrating why this methodology is key to building the capacities of women leaders and to bringing about sustainable change.
