Amina Lemrini

Current chair of Moroccan higher commission for audio visual: legislating for a gender aware and gender sensitive media in Morocco

2018 CSW

Hosted by WLP Jordan's Sisterhood Is Global Institute/Jordan (SIGI/J), this is a parallel event of the 62nd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

While women's rights activists and women human rights defenders have used both traditional media and new digital technologies to expand the outreach of their messages, these two conduits remain laden with misogyny and continue to be exploited as tools to intimidate, harass, threaten, and silence women.

This panel will share effective practices in using media and IT, discuss how to advocate for laws that criminalize gender-based violence and discrimination perpetrated through technology, and highlight strategies to ensure media does not reproduce inequalities.
