Sakena Yacoobi, Executive Director of the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL), speaks about her organization's work providing young Afghan and Pakistani women and girls with educational opportunities and leadership mentoring, and the techniques she has found to be most effective. This interview was part of a series of interviews conducted with attendees of the June 2002 Summer Roaming Institute in Potomac, MD.

Cameroonian activist Siona Bongfen Jaff, Community Education and Development Services (CEDS), describes her organization's history and focus on grassroots women's leadership training and women's health education. She describes the genesis of CEDS and the establishment of a community health center and vaccination program in the aftermath of a measles outbreak that killed 24 children in her village in five weeks.
