On the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8, 2006), WLP President and founder Mahnaz Afkhami speaks with Voice of America's Ahmadreza Baharloo on the current status of women globally and the strategies and impediments to achieving rights and equality. 

Mahnaz Afkhami, President and founder of Women's Learning Partnership, discusses the situation of women's rights in Iran, including a peaceful protest for reform of family laws that turned violent when 70 people (including 22 men) were arrested and imprisoned. Afkhami provides an overview of WLP and it's work, and issues that women are fighting for in Iran.
