On November 8, 2001, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) hosted a forum to discuss conflicts between cultural and religious traditions and globalization. UNFPA Executive Director Thoraya Obaid, who currently serves as the Chair of the Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) Board of Directors, introduces a three-person panel consisting of Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Karen Armstrong, and Abdullahi al-Naim. Each panelist gives a talk relating to the role of religion in culture, fundamentalism, and globalization. The presentations are followed by a dialogue session between the panelists and members of the audience.
