WLP programs empower women across the Global South to play a significant role in shaping the policies that impact their daily lives and contribute solutions to intersecting global challenges. Our partnership fosters the collective power of connected feminist leaders and grassroots organizations to support meaningful and lasting change that reaches the most marginalized groups through localized approaches to program implementation. The reach of our programs extend beyond our immediate partners and to the most marginalized groups with leadership and advocacy training workshops in over 80 countries and 30 languages.
OUR REACH: Our programs and training materials reach hundreds of thousands of women, men, and youth in over all over the world;

OUR ADVOCACY: Our dozens of regional and global women’s rights campaigns—on family law, nationality and citizenship, climate justice, violence against women, political participation, economic empowerment, and refugee rights, to name only a few—have improved the lives of millions worldwide
Below are just some of the incredible accomplishments our partnership has achieved so far:
FEMINIST LEADERSHIP
- Helped hundreds of women get elected to political office in Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, and Mauritania.
- Engaged thousands of women in Brazil, Mozambique, and Pakistan to participate in the electoral process for local and national elections.
- Trained local and displaced women on peacebuilding and decision-making processes in Nigeria, which led to hundreds of participants raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) and working with local police stations to improve handling of cases on sexual violence.
- Drafted and secured the adoption of a national plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in Jordan.
- Successfully pressured the governments of Mauritania and Zimbabwe to establish gender quotas for women’s political participation and ensured gender quota requirements for political parties were met in Pakistan.
- Advocated successfully for the enforcement of laws punishing perpetrators of honor crimes in Palestine.
MOBILIZING THE WOMEN’S MOVEMENT
- Advocated successfully for the Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill and Domestic Violence Bill in Malaysia.
- Contributed recommendations to the government that resulted in a new law on sexual violence in Kyrgyzstan.
- Initiated campaigns on GBV that contributed to a new law on domestic violence in Kazakhstan.
- Introduced femicide as a crime into the penal code of Brazil and new laws on street harassment, and overturned legislation banning discussions on gender, GBV, and sexual orientation in schools.
- Advocated for the African Union’s adoption of 15 demands from the Kilimanjaro Initiative as official policies, advancing rural women’s land rights and climate justice.
- Championed reforming the Family Code and ensured equal inheritance rights in Morocco.
- Advocated successfully for the revocation of penal code articles in Jordan and Lebanon that allow rapists to marry their victims to avoid punishment.
- Improved the legal status and access to basic rights of non-Lebanese spouses and children of Lebanese women, and mobilized to make equal citizenship rights become a major political debate in Lebanon.
- Advocated successfully for the ratification of seven core human rights treaties including CEDAW in Palestine.
CIVIL SOCIETY STRENGTHENING
- Supported 600 women’s cooperatives focused on economic empowerment in Turkey and established nine women and children centers and three new women solidarity centers, providing 475 women and 137 children with psychosocial support, childcare, education, and legal assistance.
- Partnered with civil society organizations in Kyrgyzstan to compile and submit parallel reports on human rights to the Universal Periodic Report process.
- Organized women’s cooperatives in Egypt to build their capacity and raise awareness amongst local communities about economic empowerment initiatives.
- Built the capacity of indigenous Soulaliyate women in Morocco to mobilize for the rights to their ancestral lands, which resulted in unprecedented gender-equitable land allocation and compensation.
- Mobilized women's groups and lawmakers to address issues of slavery and child trafficking in Mauritania.
- Mobilized thousands of activists who fought for the passage of laws criminalizing rape, domestic violence, and child marriage in Pakistan.
