Summary

In 2016, Brazil implemented the Brazilian Law on the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (Law no. 13,146/2015). This law aimed to revolutionize the protection of rights for the estimated 45 million individuals with disabilities residing in Brazil.

The legislation stipulates that States Parties must "take all appropriate measures, including legislation, to modify or abolish existing laws, regulations, customs and practices that constitute discrimination against persons with disabilities."
