About the Interviewee* 

Afaf Mahfouz (Egypt/USA) is a long-time advocate for human rights around the world. Trained in law, political science, and psychoanalysis, she has been an advocate for women’s participation and human rights. She was elected First Vice-President (1995-1997) and President (1997-2000) of the Conference of the Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO). She is an activist for the promotion of non-governmental organizations in the United Nations system. Dr. Mahfouz is Co-Editor of The Future of Prejudice: Psychoanalysis and the Prevention of Prejudice.
