On Thursday January 31, four women were appointed to Lebanon’s new cabinet, the largest number of female appointees in Lebanon’s history. Since 2005, no more than two women at a time have served as cabinet members, and Lebanon’s most recent cabinet only had one female member.
Siti Nurjanah is the Executive Director of WLP’s partner in Indonesia, Women and Youth Development Institute of Indonesia (WYDII). With the country’s presidential elections scheduled for April 2019, we asked her to tell us about the challenges women face when running for office.
In January 2019, WLP’s partner in Kazakhstan hosted a workshop on leadership and women’s political participation. The three-day training included activists from around the country as well as from Georgia.
