Summary

The Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) was inspired by the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, where the world witnessed the passion and determination of women advocating for change. Established to combat gendered inequalities and injustices globally, WLP has dedicated 25 years to empowering grassroots organizations and promoting women's leadership, civic engagement, and human rights across the Global South.

WLP's mission is to foster a just, equitable, and peaceful world through principles of Participatory Leadership, Inclusivity, Collaboration, Peer-to-Peer Support, and Mutual Respect. Recognizing the importance of local context and culture in empowerment, WLP emphasizes community-based training that is interactive, adaptable, and focused on self-discovery.

With programs that have reached individuals in over 60 countries, WLP has inspired and equipped activists to confront pressing issues with advocacy campaigns that address critical matters such as violence against women, refugee rights, family laws, and nationality and citizenship rights leading to significant policy and legal reforms.

While progress has been made in women's rights, gaining the ability to pursue education, work, and decision making positions, the organization seeks to broaden its vision. WLP calls for a global movement that not only addresses women's concerns but also transforms power relations and decision-making processes, ultimately striving for a better, more inclusive world for all
