In 1996 Sisterhood is Global Institute (SIGI) hosted a forum called Beijing and Beyond, drawing Muslim women scholars and activists from all over the world to discuss the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action. Following the forum, a small group of women leaders gathered for an in-depth discussion about the cultural and historical roles of women in Muslim majority societies.
WLP Egypt led a summit to achieve justice in the workplace in conjunction with representatives of several countries who experienced changes during the Arab Spring.
On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of Women's Learning Partnership, and celebrating the 30th Anniversary of CEDAW, WLP, in cooperation with Cultural Conversations, and the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, hosts a panel discussion on challenges and successes in demanding equal rights as citizens – in the family and in society.
WLP, in partnership with The Middle East Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, presents a panel discussion with leaders of the women’s movement from Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
