نشرة رقم 6 / ناير / كانون الثانيDear Friends, Greetings from all of us at Women's Learning Partnership (WLP). At the beginning of 2004 we look back at the year just past with pride in our partnerships that have produced learning tools and material in nine languages and conducted over a hundred workshops in 15 countries on leadership learning, skills building, applying technology to advocacy, and organizational capacity development. We are gratified by the potential and possibility of collaborative, participatory action that is realized daily in the work of our partners in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Even though the world was troubled by conflict and violence during 2003, there were many points of light and hope in the work of women activists that help us look to this year with enthusiasm and optimism. In 2004 we will be working with new partners in the MENA region and produce new curricula in Asia and Africa. We will hold National Leadership Institutes and implement E-learning leadership courses in Persian and Arabic based on the English prototype course we conducted last year. We will each continue to support our other partners' work and strengthen our advocacy through collective efforts. In this issue of Enews we will share some of our recent activities, including the publication of the Leading to Choices multimedia curriculum on CD ROM and two new editions of "Leading to Choices: A Leadership Training Handbook for Women" in Swahili and Assamese. Also featured is WLP's recent Middle East/North Africa regional Roaming Institute, organized in cooperation with our Jordanian partner, Sisterhood Is Global/Jordan that brought together NGO leaders and trainers from Algiers, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Yemen to Petra, Jordan from December 9-15, 2003. We thank you for your continued support and solidarity without which our work to advance women's rights and full participation in civil society would not be possible. Mahnaz Afkhami
